We're not ready to give up on 1.5C of warming

March 26, 2026

Two weeks ago, I sent you this message that I'm not ready to give up on 1.5C warming. (Update on LinkedIn and YouTube)

I heard back from many of you, "I haven't given up!", "I'm with you 100%", "I appreciate you continuing to articulate why this still matters".

And I got this one message back from Laura that I wanted to share with you:

"I shared your message with a number of people and used it as an opportunity to start conversations with them."

I want you to do what Laura did: go have conversations about 1.5C, and come back and tell me how it went.

Use in in whatever way helps you to have conversations, coworkers, bosses, friends, family. You can even say, "hey, this guy Tito wrote this thing. And you know, I'm not totally sure about it myself. But what do you think about it?"

"I'm not ready to give up on 1.5C" doesn't have to be your opinion. This can be an opinion, and you can react to it, your friends to react to it, and I want to hear back what you discover.

In that conversation you'll discover something about how the other person thinks, something about about how you think, or some other surprise. Then hit reply and tell me about it.

I also recommend the "How to talk about Climate in 2026" guide that I sent out last week about how to have conversations about the climate. Use that to better understand where you are on the map and where the other person is on the map.

Go do what Laura did!

Tito

P.S. Mauna Loa Update -- thanks to the January minibus bill, Mauna Loa funding is completely restored! Charles Keeling's carbon dioxide measurements started in 1958 continue!
