Kim Stanley Robinson wrote me back!!!

May 09, 2020

Remember last week when I got introduced to Kim Stanley Robinson? I didn't expect to hear anything back...

But on Wednesday night, he replied! He's giving the introductory remarks to the AirMiners Conference!!!

This is so exciting because his works inspired me in college interested in biotech, and again recently when I started focusing on climate. Back when I was at Brown, the series opened up this whole world of imagination about bio-engineering and terraforming Mars. Then a year ago I re-read the book and right smack dab in the middle are "air miners" to pull materials from the martian atmosphere. Wow, it was right there all along! After my update last week it was great to hear from so many KSR fans out there who are similarly inspired.

KSR published two articles in the past month about COVID and climate change:

New Yorker: "The Coronavirus Is Rewriting Our Imaginations": https://www.newyorker.com/books/page-turner/our-greatest-political-novelist

Bloomberg Green: "Making the Fed’s Money Printer Go Brrrr for the Planet": https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2020-04-22/kim-stanley-robinson-let-the-fed-print-money-for-the-planet

I am super excited to hear Kim Stanley Robinson's introductory remarks! If you haven't signed up for the conference yet, check it out at http://conference.airminers.org
