ArchivesHow to meet Tim Draper
June 13, 2019
I went to the Tesla Shareholder meeting to see Elon Musk!
I was hoping to meet him...as were a mob of rabid fans who flew in from Ukraine, Maine, and LA! So I didn't get to ask Elon my question: "Has Tesla looked into using carbon negative plastics made with direct air capture?"
Like a good entrepreneur, here's how I rolled with it:
- Said hi to Ira Ehrenpreis, Tesla Board member and $300M clean tech fund VC
- Saw Larry Ellison and attempted to guess what shoes he wears (Adidas Ultraboost)
- Met Steve Jurvetson, Tesla Board Member and early Tesla investor. He was the "J" in DFJ, the legendary SV VC fund that seed funded Tesla. My friend Daniel told him we work at the Draper University co-working space. Steve opened his bag and showed us his Draper University notebook and we took a photo together!
- So then I sent Tim Draper the pic of Steve, Daniel, and me. Tim said "awesome!" and cced Steve. Now I'm looking forward to talking with Tim more about what's new in carbon tech.
Even though I didn't ask Elon my question, just showing up at the event opened these new doors. Solid life hack: you can buy 1 share of any company and go to their next shareholder meeting. Pro Tip: wear a nice blazer.
Sooo.....what should I ask Tim Draper?
