Climate action

I'm up in Mendocino, California, 4 hours north of San Francisco. I'm here meeting with Peter Eisenberger at the Elk Coast Institute. He's one of the inventors of direct air capture technology, and CTO of Global Thermostat.
I'm here to talk about climate action, the new carbon economy, and get a super cool tour of the up and coming Elk Coast Institute. We'll be hosting a meeting of the minds here later this summer.
I wanted to share a bit more about what I mean by “climate action". Climate action is an essential outcome of all the work that we're doing, but it's beyond recycling, composting, and protesting. It means carbon entrepreneurship, buying new carbon products (consumer activism), and supporting the development of new carbon technologies.
We need the scale and speed of an "App store" for carbon. When the Apple App store was first invented, it was the small nucleus of an idea. It wasn't even a part of the original iPhone launch, Steve Jobs thought it was a terrible idea. But people started to build on top of it and use apps, buy apps, and talk about apps. Journalists amplified that, and blogs and magazines were created to better use these apps. That whole economy sprung up and built itself into multi-billion dollar scale in under 10 years.
That's what I mean by climate action. New people, new perspectives, new ideas, all coming together to help the carbon economy take off.
I learned a lot from talking with Peter. It's great to hear the perspective of decades of experience and compare perspectives. (That's part of why I'm writing this note is if any of this can help someone else who is on this path... that's how we grow!)
