Carbon in the Valley

Within only 9 years, the world saw the birth of Apple and Microsoft, Intel went all-in on microprocessors, and venture capital in Silicon Valley soared. By 1984, the stage was set for a 30+ year-long technology revolution to unfold.

I'm reading about this in Fire in the Valley, the "Age of the Personal Computer".

This got me thinking about an "Age of Climate Solutions", like that same 9-year golden age in the personal computer. When will it start? As I started to look, I realized, we’re already in it!

Look what’s already happened:

• 2015: Carbon Engineering unveils carbon capture plant, funded by Bill Gates
• 2015: Carbon XPRIZE announced
• 2017: AirMiners launches index of 88 startups mining carbon from the air
• 2018: YCombinator publishes “Request for Carbon Removal Startups”
• 2019: Exxon, Chevron, and Occidental Oil invest in Direct Air Capture

Where is this all taking us? What are your predictions? Is this the start of the golden age of climate solutions? The middle?
